Singapore
The InterContinental Singapore
Hotel was a new build. It has more than 400 rooms and suites, several
restaurants, fitness room and outdoor swimming pool. It is an integral part of
the Bugis Junction complex. Bugis Junction is an integrated development
comprising office, retail and hotel elements. Bugis Junction Towers, Parco Bugis
Junction shopping center and InterContinental Singapore are the 3 properties
within the development.
Its unique architectural features earned Bugis Junction several awards for an
innovative approach and modern interpretation of urban development.
When I arrived in Singapore in 1990, the design was in the preliminary stages. My family and I lived in Singapore for nearly 8 years. The Grand Opening of the complex was in September of 1995.
As VP Technical Services for InterContinental Hotels, I was responsible for the Management of the Hotel Design and Construction. I was the Resident Director of InterContinental Hotels, Singapore Pte. Ltd. In this capacity, I managed the investment in the Hotel. I also established and managed the Corporate offices in Singapore.
Here are a few photos of the Hotel. The main entrance to the Hotel is though reconstructed Singapore Shophouses.
